March 31st, 2008 - Things that he says…

I was reading a quote to Max, “If you can talk, you can sing. If you can walk, you can dance.” Then Max finishes it with… “if you cry, mom gives you treats!” Out of the mouth of babes!

March 4th, 2008 - Max is 3 today!

Happy Birthday to my baby boy!!! Can you believe it?! I was just reminiscing his first birthday. Parents have told me to enjoy every minute of it, because it’ll go by fast. They weren’t kidding! Max has accomplished a lot in 3 years and everyday he comes up with something new. But lately, he’s been asking “why?” He catches us off guard and it’s funny to hear our responses to his questions. We try to be as accurate and correct as possible, but sometimes we have to be creative with our answers.

Happy 3rd birthday Max!

January 23rd, 2008 - There’s always next season…

So the Chargers didn’t win against the Patriots, that’s okay. They held up well, regardless of the injuries. Rivers played well, even without an ACL!

We all agree, it was disappointing to not see LT out in the field. But I’m sure LT was just as disappointed and I bet he was just “aching” to play. He has 2 great backups, Turner and Sproles. Let’s let others play! It was wise to keep LT at the sidelines. Would you be able to run or maneuver effectively with a sprained MCL? If you can, you’re not human. If Rivers had a sprained shoulder, do you think he would’ve played? No, he’d be at the sidelines as well. All the ridicule LT is receiving from “so called Chargers fans” is disheartening. We want LT at 100% for next season and the season after that, to score more points for the Chargers. Do you think people would care so much if the Chargers won against the Patriots?

I’m proud to say, the Chargers played honestly and didn’t cheat their way to the Superbowl.

Oh, way to go Kaeding for making those field goals!!!

January 16th, 2008 - Good luck Chargers!

May the BOLTS strike down the Patriots! Though they are hard to beat. Many are saying the Patriots will be 18-0, but I feel hopeful!

January 7th, 2008 - Way to go Chargers!

What a game!! Husband and I were there and what an experience! We were fortunate to have dry seats and seats next to Chambers’ family! First half was a little worrisome, but second half made up for it. Strangers everywhere giving high fives! I’ve never seen such camaraderie! Final score against the Titans 17-6! What a victory! We have to applaud the Chargers for playing a great game, but special mention to Merriman #56, Phillips #95, Chambers #89, Jackson #83, Rivers #17, and of course LT #21! I’m sure my husband could add more to my list. Let’s hope Gates is better for the Colts game…

On 01/13, Chargers will be playing the Colts. Luckily (and I mean LUCKILY), they were able to beat Indy once. Let’s see a repeat!! (even though I am a Peyton Manning fan).

January 5th, 2008 - 2008!

Wow! Can you believe another year has past! 2007 was a great year and as I reflect on it, 2007 has been one of the better years I’ve had. I don’t make resolutions for the new year, though I’ve tried and never kept them. My goal is to be the best that I can be as a mother, wife, and sister. According to my mom, I’m already a great sister! (family joke) I think of every new year as a clean slate for me and hopefully by the end of the year, it stays that way.

Here’s to 2008! May it bring you good health, plenty of happiness, good fortune, and successes in whatever you pursue!

December 31st, 2007 - Holidays have come and gone…

This was the best Christmas I’ve had with my 2, almost 3, year old son. We had a busy fun-filled Christmas with the family. My sisters (minus Marion) were here to make it an extra special Christmas. Max had a great time and he’ll forever have a long Christmas holiday. He was able to have Christmas with Grandma Jeanie and Grandpa Otis, Christmas with my family, and then Christmas with Grandpa John, Martha, Uncle Jimmy, and Uncle Jack. I loved seeing his reaction with the endless presents.

He really didn’t know who Santa is and at first was calling him “Christmas.” Eventually, he started to call him Santa. We read him plenty of Christmas books and watched the traditional Santa Claus movies. He quickly picked up that it’s Santa who comes down the chimney and brings the present for all the good boys (and girls). But later on, he also realized that it’s mom and dad who bought the presents and placed them under the tree.

Once he started opening the presents, he wanted to keep going. He crawled under the tree and said, “I want to look for more presents!” He received a lot of great gifts and he is so thankful for them. He doesn’t appear to have a favorite, as he plays with them all equally. He surprises me every day.

I’m thankful he didn’t get sick during the holidays, unlike his mom. He had a great time with his aunties, Tigger (sister’s beautiful lab), and Jeremy. He just loved Jeremy. Cindy and Jeremy live in Chicago and they were first to arrive here. We took them to Disneyland and I think Cindy and Jeremy were more excited than Max! We purchased annual passes for the family, so we’re a little spoiled with our frequent trips. I was also able to spend some quality time with Eleanor and Cindy. Maricar didn’t want to go, but she had some quality alone time. For those who don’t know, Maricar lives with me now. We went to the Catamaran Spa and pampered ourselves with a massage. We also spent some time at Coronado Beach dog park and had a great time! Tigger has endless energy and she loves the water! Maricar continues to mention Jasmine and how she misses her, Marion’s labrador.

What a way to spend Christmas, no snow! It doesn’t totally feel like Christmas when you’re used to Midwest weather, but you can easily get spoiled with the paradise like weather of San Diego. Someday, I hope to have my whole family together for the holidays again. Well, son is awake from his nap. I’ll write more soon.
